She is here! Just a few days ago, on the afternoon of August 16, Abigail Kathleen Pliska made her entrance into the world. We had two midwives on call—though one didn’t arrive until ninety minutes after the birth. But both did an excellent job helping Sierah deliver a healthy, happy little baby and all the postpartum care she needed. No major complications arose.
I was thinking about that on my run this morning. It’s always an anxious day when labor kicks into gear. Many questions fill the mind. The scary ones. Doubts can arise. But God has once again shown himself so kind to our little family. As much as I strive to be the protector and provider of our home, God is infinitely better at both. This week was a humble reminder of such.
It was also another week where I was reminded that many of you really are praying for us. We are normal, Christian folks, like many of you. We are not special, super-spiritual people who deserve an easier time or are impervious to the attacks of the evil one. We need the prayers of the saints just like everybody else.
So, thank you for praying for us. Thank you to the many who have reached out to check on us. We have everything we need and more! God is too good.
Please pray for us as we seek to parent this third, precious child to the glory of God. I’ve heard that going from two to three can be a real challenge. We have no reason to think otherwise! But even as we celebrate this precious new life, I can’t escape the fact that there is so much Kingdom work to be done here in Japan. And I don’t want to do it without their help someday.
Blessings,
Joe, Sierah, Sophie, Ezra, Abigail.
